Background and Training:

I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology (Neuroscience) from Duke University, then worked in clinical neuroimaging research at McLean Hospital, a psychiatric hospital affiliated with Harvard Medical School. I contributed to research and published extensively on topics including anxiety disorders, depression, emotional intelligence, sleep deprivation and mild traumatic brain injuries.

In order to pursue my passion for patient care, I obtained a medical degree in my home state at the University of Kansas School of Medicine. During medical school, I completed additional psychiatry rotations in New Zealand and Colorado.

I trained in general psychiatry during residency at Northwestern University (McGaw Medical Center) in Chicago. I then moved with my family to Los Angeles, where I completed a fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at UCLA (Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital).

After finishing training, I moved to Marin County, where I established child and adolescent psychiatry services at MarinHealth Medical Center (affiliated with UCSF). I also worked as the attending psychiatrist in the adult partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient programs, including the young adult and older adult (geriatric) programs, where I cared for acute and medically-complex individuals.

I am a member of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP).
